Cleaning up sea turtle habitats on the windward coast
The St Vincent and the Grenadines Environment Fund teamed up with National Parks to distribute garbage receptacles to protect sea turtle habitats on the Windward Coast. Residents in Colonaire, Gorse and Byera bordering the sandy shore were allocated in total 40 garbage recipticles. A presentation on the importance of sea turtle habitats was given at each distribution site. Special thanks were also given to the residents for participating in this programme. As they help to act as primary examples of how to manage coastal garbage by keeping garbage off beaches and out of turtle habitats. In effect the actions of these participants will encourage their neighbours and fellow residents throughout the community to do the same.
